 And what stories does the Bell tell?

그리고 종은 무슨 이야기를 말해줄까?

It is so very old;

종은 너무 많이 늙었다

it was cast

그것은 주조되었다

before Grandmother's grandmother was born,

할머니의 할머니가 태어나기도 전에

yet it was scarcely more than a child

그러나 그것은 단지 어린이일 뿐이다

compared with the Merman.

그 남자 인어와 비교해서

He is a quiet,

그는 조용하다

odd-looking old fellow,

괴상하게 보이는 나이든 녀석이다

with pants of eelskin,

뱀장어로 된 바지를 입고

a scaly coat decorated with yellow water lilies,

노란 수련으로 장식된 비늘이 있는 코트를 입고

bulrushes in his hair,

큰 고랭이속의 식물을 머리에 꽂고

and duckweeds in his beard.

그리고 그의 턱수염에 개구리밥이 있고

He isn't exactly handsome to look at.

그는 정확히 보기엔 잘생기진 않았다.

It would take years and days

수년 수일이 걸릴 것이다.

to repeat everything

모든 것을 되풀이하여 말하는 것은

the Bell has said;

그 종이 말했던

it tells the same stories again and again,

그 종은 똑같은 이야기들을 몇 번이고 말한다,

in great detail,

매우 상세하게,

sometimes lengthening them,

때때로 연장하면서

sometimes shortening them,

때때로 줄이면서

according to its mood.

그 분위기에 따라서

It tells of the olden times,

그 종은 옛날에 대해서 말한다.

those hard and gloomy times.

그러한 힘들고 우울한 시대에 대해서
