THE ANTS AND THE GRASSHOPPER
개미와 베짱이
One bright day in late autumn
늦가을 어느 화창한 날에
a family of Ants were bustling about in the warm sunshine,
한 개미 가족이 따뜻한 햇빛속에서 바쁘게 움직이고 있었다,
drying out the grain they had stored up during the summer,
그들이 여름 동안 저장했었던 곡식을 말리면서,
when a starving Grasshopper, his fiddle under his arm, came up and humbly begged for a bite to eat.
그때 한 굶주린 베짱이가 바이올린을 팔에 끼고 나타나서 초라하게 한 입 먹을 것을 구걸하였다.
"What!" cried the Ants in surprise, "haven't you stored anything away for the winter?
개미들이 놀라서 외쳤다. "뭐라고요! 당신은 겨울을 위한 어떤 것도 저장하지 않았나요?"
What in the world were you doing all last summer?"
"세상에 당신은 여름 내내 무엇을 하고 있었나요?"
"I didn't have time to store up any food," whined the Grasshopper;
"저는 어떤 식량도 저장할 시간이 없었어요," 라고 베짱이가 우는 소리를 하였다.
"I was so busy making music that before I knew it the summer was gone."
"저는 음악을 만드느라 너무 바빠서 저도 모르게 여름이 가버렸어요."
The Ants shrugged their shoulders in disgust.
그 개미들은 싫증나서 어깨를 으쓱했다.
"Making music, were you?" they cried. "Very well; now dance!"
"음악을 만들었다고요, 맞아요? 매우 잘 했군요, 이제 춤을 추시죠!" 그들이 외쳤다.
And they turned their backs on the Grasshopper and went on with their work.
그리고 그들은 베짱이에게 등을 돌리고 일을 계속했다.

일하는 시간과 노는 시간이 존재한다.
